The rubber cleaner did a good job on the case, inside and out, getting rid of all dirt and rust residue. The rivets were already pretty clean. The brackets are hard to clean being attached to the case. Best to tilt the case on the side and use a brush and cleaner to keep the harsher cleaner off the case. There are probably many speciality cleaners for rusty parts, but I always have heavy-duty carb cleaner on hand and it strips off rust and paint pretty well, especially with a little brush. You'll have to use something stronger for rust on the metal parts, like the carb cleaner. Take the metal parts off and clean separately. The rubber cleaner is good for the case itself.
