heater motor wiring location
« on: February 25, 2016, 11:46:42 AM »
Hi There,

i'm finalizing my heater restoration and i got a question concerning the location of the heater motor wiring.

The article about heater restoration shows a two wire motor with the cables located on top (11-12 o clock):

Heater Motor Feed Cable Part 2b

Virginia Classic Mustang shows it the different way:

Charles restored three wire heater has the three cables located on bottom side (5-6 o clock)

My 66 heater motor showed the same situation as the article (See attached picture).

What is correct, especially for the two wire version?

Have a nice day!
Paul

I see only two wires from the motor. The ground cable from the cylinder head to the firewall is visible in the photo - is that the third wire you're referring to?

Probably best to be asking what type of heater motors others with late '66 SJ cars have.

The heater motor in the K code is period-correct for when/where that car was made.

If I recall correctly, the three wire motor was used on the 64-1/2 and early 65s with the center "off" blower switch.  Later 65s and 66s use the two wire motor.

I made a mistake, i meant the last picture of Jeffs pics but its not a Metuchen car, it's a late 66 san jose six banger (wrong "T"  ;D ) sorry for the confusion!

Easy - three wire - one being a ground

Have three wires being used on early 65 Dearborn built Mustangs into Sept 64 at least (just a quick look)

Four examples with the wire exiting the heater motor at the same location
