Who do you use to restore your AC Lines? - Thanks
« on: December 01, 2014, 12:05:35 PM »
Hi

I bought an extra set of AC lines to be restored.

They looked bad at first, but after I soaked them in Evapo-rust they came out ok.

Before

After

I have looked online and I see that 'Classic Auto Air' restores these.  Has anyone used them before, or suggest someone else?

Thanks

I have never done any personally, but I've seen others that have had p/s and a/c hoses zinc plated.  The rubber does not cause any problems from what I understand.

They can be plated. Challenge can be some lines have clear zinc tubes and zinc di chromate fitting. Just need to find a plater that gets it

Guess you could do the vinegar trick - Plate everything dichromate and then remove the gold dye from the tubes

At least possibly worth a try

I hesitate to post this as a referral, but I follow a TV show called Graveyard Cars. On their forums, the Mopar guys say they do some fantastic restorations. During a recent resto they had some A/C parts which were done by CAA. Taking into account I could only judge from a TV screen, they looked great with all of the correct plating and finishes (to include lines, control valves, vaccum motors and even the heater/AC box).
