Topic: Pony floor mat differences over the years?

I still have a couple of rear mats from the old 66 coupe bought off the lot as a trade-in in 67.
They have C4ZA-6513054-F and P.P.I. 4250 8 with the FoMoCo logo on the back, while a nice used pair I bought on eBay listed as 68 to 70 have no part number on the back except for 1475 with the FoMoCo logo and Made in Canada and Fabrique au Canada.
RubberMaid did them all right?
If I had gone to the dealer in 69 to buy mats for a new 69 Mustang, which type would I have gotten?
I'm not saying it has to be one or the other of just these two examples I know of.

Believe that like usual, there was likely a number of different suppliers and there a number of different versions. Ones with the "Pony", others without, all sold by the dealers so it was basically what they had in stock and on the shelf when the car came in to be sold or later over the counter.

The difference in markings was IMHO likely due to different suppliers but I've not traced down all markings and variations

Non- Pony versions marked PPI  4251R and PPI  4251L for example

Already touched on briefly but there are differences on the back side too even though the front sides were the same .It seemed to be part of the evolution that I have noticed .I didn't keep track of them because it wasn't a field of interest but noticed it over the years on ones I have come across.

My concern now is how to identify a repro?
Were they all smoothed backed with no grip nibs, logo or p/n?
I saw one such pony repro example in the 80's
I've been trying to get some mats for my SS, but repros I've looked into are all smooth backed
NOS pony mats are cheap in comparison to Chevy ones

As for how to tell the reproductions (some produced over the last 30 years - possibly allot of versions) from originals I don't know anyone that has taken the time to study this subject in depth. And the makers could have copied and used the Ford logo at some point before Ford got heavy on licensing

I have seen quite a few repros with the "grip nibs" but not any with the Ford logo. I don't know for sure if any un licensed ones with ford trademark were produced nor am I sure that all originals had that. Just haven't studied them enough because they are not a priority for me even though some are very cool.
