I took some pictures of the hinges on my car
In picture 3 there are marks readable (not Cristal clear, but I can still read '4 3'
Just out of curiosity...

The difference is where the hinge connects to the hood. Take some pictures of that to get confirmation if you like.

Here is a pic I took off of ebay of a pitted pair of 67 /68 hinges . compare the portion that bolts to the hood to the other ones on this thread those late 68 69/70 ones are notched so as to follow the contour of a 69 hood where as the 67/68 ones are straight across .

you need a pic of the upward metal between the upper 2 rivets pic from inside hood angle in other words the very top or tallest upward angle view to se if your hinge is 67 type.   If you use the 67 type hinge on a 69-70 hood you will have a problem with the metal hitting the lowercross bracing painted area when tightening hood bolts.

Compare reply #10 picture with yours and you will see the difference on the portion that bolts to the hood. Yours are indeed 67/68 style.

We'll Bob, that' not bad news....that's terrible news!  Until, 5 mins ago, they were supposed to go back on the (Dec 67 built) 1968 Mustang.  They came off the vehicle I've owned for over 10 years, they always say you never know what you'll find on a preowned vehicle.  I knew the driver side fender had been replaced in the 70’s with a ford replacement part, presumable it was hit at one time.  But now, it appears the hinges were likely replaced during this same incident.

It looks like I have a set of (replacement) hinges for sale and I'm in the market for an earlier set.  I guess I'll get to further develop/ improve my parkerizing skills.  Thanks for your "observations" Bob....I think :'(

Let me know what you want for them Lee and how they worked prior to Phosphate with regards to tightness, straightness and how the hood closed and held.

there were 2 ford part #s for the 2 versions of hinges  c7zz first then c9zz & that had nothing to do with the rivet change in fall 69.

Not exactly true. The factory (per the assembly manuals) used C7ZB-16800,1 for 1967 and 1968 Mustangs, C9ZB-16800,1 for 1969 and 1970. Any part number with a "Z" in the fourth position is a service part number and will cross-reference to what Ford considered as a replacement part, not necessarily what the factory used. In Ford Car Parts, C9ZZ-16796,7 was the replacement hinge for 1967 thru 70. Unfortunately there are "part number" problems:
1 P/N C7ZB-16800,1 and C9ZB-16800,1 are assemblies, hinges and springs, the actual hinge part numbers are "invisible". A running change or a different part number for the successive year are not known.
2 P/N C9ZZ-16796,7 as a service part without the springs, is shown to fit all 67-70 Mustangs. 
The bottom line is simple, pictures showing the specific differences with year and build date (plant also?) noted. I don't think it does anyone a service to simply say "it's different" without some back-up.

Jim ,that is "Ed speak" He lives and breaths this stuff and has forgotton more then most of us know. Myself included. Yes he is wrongly (again) assuming that all reading know what he is referring to which in his mind they should  ::)  :D . I know he takes great joy in reminding me of what I don't know ALL THE TIME . I believe he was referring to the mushroom style stamped rivet that was evolved into production sometime in 70 vs the X stamped rivet that was used on the 67/earlier 68 and different hinge for the later 68 /69. The change in hinge design did not have anything to do with the change in the rivet design or even the part number.
