Yeah, I've seen that tactic before several times,  just about a week ago the last time. That time a seller had a listing for a NOS Tilt type turn signal switch. Something in the way the listing was carefully worded, like a smoke screen made me double-take at everything. Yep, aftermarket item being sold with a NOS box is all.

Scammers!

It could have been an honest mistake.  Don't worry, in 5 years most of the OEM parts will be gone forever. I have a small hoard of OEM parts as I am sure other do as well.

40 to 50 years is a long time in the automotive business.

This C5ZZ labeled hood that sold for $666 was in a Mercury Sable hood box. When I pointed out the shipping label with Mercury Sable hood part number the seller made it disappear. Just a heads up to watch out for funny business.

It is possible that what is claimed about the box is true, received from Ford that way. It would not have diminished the e-bay listing if the seller said that the box was labeled different than the contents. In all e-bay sales - "Fool me once, shame on you: fool me twice, shame on me".

I see that stuff often.  My thoughts are "if it's not in the original box, then it's not NOS".  I don't care if it is an original part. It ranks right up there with NOS "used".

FYI some assemblyline parts that made their way out of the plant do not have box's originally. There are some items that came more then one to a box also. NOS fabric comes in rolled bolts and not box's .Prudence should prevail in most instances because of some mis representing sellers but just because of no box doesn't automatically preclude it from being NOS.

If for nothing else, that price was a heads up...

I can't tell if the seller is honestly that clueless trying to pass off used champion F9Y plugs off as shelf worn NOS Autolite plugs. It is common to replace used plugs and put them in the new box during replacement. Maybe less then honest . I am going to pass on the better price  ;D .
