Subject: Dearborn Baseball Diamond Yellow ink stamps on a 1968 car????!?!?!??

30K 1000 Mile example sold on Ebay...

Check this car out...

The car is a Dearborn car, but I've never seen the Dearborn Baseball Diamond Yellow ink stamps on a 1968 car.  It had been rumored that some were used in '67 in Dearborn, but I'd never seen any...and here they are on a '68 car!  Well I guess that puts that to rest!  :o)

Been following this for about 15 years  Just don't think the subject has come up on this forum since it opened

Yes there was a period of time at Dearborn that some of the paint inspectors were reassigned the 64 style of stamps. May have been an issue over the supply of stickers by the outside supplier or some other reason. Two different inspectors have been documented

What is interesting is that the other (non-paint) inspectors continued to use the sticker method in most examples.

Currently documented between March - June 68 at Dearborn

Never heard nor documented this being the practice on 67' s maybe a comment from someone that didn't check if they were lookign at a 67 or a 68 ;)

Well Jeff, Those two Dearborn Yellow Ink quality stamps sure look legit on this 1000 mile low mileage Dearborn '68 car.  No phony baloney here!  I definitely agree that it was not widespread.  You're probably right...They probably ran out of decals....and defaulted to the good 'ole ink stamps.  I'd love to see more like this... but it's just great to see this one original example.

Yes should mentioned that some of the stickers used on that car (allot didn't survive the years) appear to be of a different design/layout from what we normally see used on Dearborn cars from 67-70.   Much closer to the 71-73 layout and design but of course those were ink stamps
