Kind of RARE 1966 Exterior/Interior color combination.

Subject: Kind of RARE 1966 Exterior/Interior color combination.

I would think that this Nightmist Blue (Color code K) is kind of RARE with Interior color code Red - (Int. Color Code 25)

Check it out...

Not a bad price for the car either!

Another example where rare = unpopular

Odd combination but have seen others - Green and red interior is one I recall well.

I like it.  65 Red would be way too bright but the 66 dark red goes with Nightmist blue.

I was actually calling on an ad for a 66 convertible about a year ago here in Sweden. The car was Silver Frost at the time but the owner claimed it said K and 25 on the door tag.

I thought it might have been someone who ordered a Silversmoke Grey (65 code K) car in 66 but it was such a late 66 it didn't make sense. That car would probably have been this combo also from the factory.

And I agree it looks good!

Nightmist Blue by its self is somewhat rare, I have seen a "K" Code GT convertible that was Nightmist Blue with red interior and red GT stripes. I own a Nightmist Blue fastback with blue and white pony interior and as far as I could see it was the only Nightmist Blue Mustang at the Las Vegas 50th celebration, but there was (2) Nightmist Blue Shelby's there.

Isn't Nightmist blue like the 65 color Caspian blue?  I had one in high school (96-98).  I don't believe it  is a rare as some other colors.

IIUC, this combo was not readily available or suggested by  Ford. This makes the Blue/red combo "rare" if you like.
The Nightmist blue color, I don't think is "that rare" (but beautiful). In Mustang production guide they show a table from the cars registered in the book and it says 7.6%. This makes it "as usual" as Springtime yellow or Silver Blue.
This is not the "truth" but probably close to it. Attached a picture of the table.

The Caspian Blue is also dark blue but a different shade.

I'm kind of surprised to see a '66 with the earlier '65-style clip on door handles and window cranks.  Wait, hold up, looks like the driver's side has the '66-style handles and window cranks, but the passenger's side has the earlier style.  Hmm....
Too much junk, too little time.

Glad to see that my "unpopular" or "rare" 1966 coupe, which is Sahara beige / parchment interior, is only 1.9% out of 100! :) Maybe not the best color for 66 but definitley gets the question, "Was that an original color?"

Keep in mind the percentages posted are based on the VIN data in the book, which I believe is less than 10% of total production.

A sample of 10 percent out of a population - or even less - is a very reliable sample size in statistics.

I get that same response on my 65 Honey Gold FB..."is that an original color?"

A sample of 10 percent out of a population - or even less - is a very reliable sample size in statistics.

Only if the sampling is controlled and represents a cross section which this didn't it was just made up of Mustang hobbyist that collected and sent in what ever you could find. Like the percentage most of the input came from 5 states or so if I recall correctly. IF you notice the percentage of high performance cars is way over weighted compared to actual production figures

In any case its what we have to work with ;)

Has anyone ever compared the 67-up data collected for ISOM to what's in the Ford production database that Marti Autoworks has licensed?

Also, consider that the total number of cars in the book(s) with full VIN data represents about half of what is in there.  There are large sections with only a VIN.

While I understand that folks want to know more and how "rare" their car is, using data from sources like ISOM should be used with caution.

Agreed, I didn't know how"much" of a sampling was used  for the percentages. But, either way, I would think that a Sahara beige car would have to be one of, if not at the top of the "uncommon", "unpopular", or "rare" colors of 66', however you look at it.  ;) And i still think it looks cool, IMHO.  8)
