correct headlights for 1969

Playing with some stuff in the garage and I was looking at some original headlights. One has the etched face ( which you can get ) and on the back is printed
Row 1 12V
row 2 4002
row 3SAE H68
row 4F8
the other is the cast light, with this on the back.
row 1 12V
row 2 4001
row 3 MADE FOR FORD
row 4 8-8
Which style of bulb is correct for 1969?
You can get the cast bulb for single headlight from Scott Drake now, the dual headlight cast bulbs from Drake will be out in 6 to 12 months. I saw an unrestored 1969 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II with cast bulbs, I think they came on the car.
Anybody detailed (anal) enough to make a stamp for the back of the headlight that you can't see but would be correct?  (ha ha)

4001 is the high beam, 4002 is the low beam.

Originals from at least three different suppliers, Tungsol (TS), General Electric, and Westinghouse.

I believe that the Westinghouse versions have FoMoCo cast in glass, whereas the others are etched.

Some 4001's on eBay right now - search for "fomoco 4001".  I don't see any 4002's at the moment.

Bulb mfg is determined mainly by which plant the car was assembled at. Some plants saw different mfg bulbs then others.  All of the repro bulbs I have seen have a different appearance (fluting of glass etc.) on the front side from original. With that said if the front side is not correct which you can see why worry about if the back is correct or not that you can't see?

  Since you are new to the site, if you are wanting to know what would be typical for your particular car it is always best to start out and include in your question about" what is correct" for your car,  what plant and when you car was built at the plant to get the best answers on what is most typical for your car. There are many here who will be glad to try and help if possible.

I have the original headlights (I think) out of my low mileage, one owner (before me) Sept. '68 San Jose built XR7 Cougar R code, and the low beam (two prongs) says:

12V
GE 4001
SAE H 68
G-8

The high beam (three prongs) says:
12V
GE4002
SAE H 68
F-8

Front has "Made For Ford" and "FoMoCo" script in the oval (stamp?) in middle
General Electric Sealed Beam (cast) on bottom
I don't always downshift, but when I do it is near a Prius so they can hear me hurting the environment.

My wife -- the sign cutting genius -- is currently building me an etch mask to turn old GE headlights into FoMoCo headlights. I make the pattern, she converts and "prints" them.

Correct for what?.... Which supplier and or what year Mustang?

Not sure they still do but at one time kits were available for etching window glass and head lights. You applied clay to the surface, pressed in a stamp then etched the glass surface that was exposed by the stamping. This was for much earlier years

While the link is useful, it doesn't discuss which bulbs got which etching.

In keeping with the title of this thread for 69-70, this PDF from Anghels applies:

in which GE is stated to use
"Made for FORD
   FoMoCo"

and Tung-Sol uses
"Made for
 FoMoCo"

I don't think the case of the letters is correct as every "Made for" bulb I've seen is actually in upper case:
"MADE FOR" and "MADE FOR FORD". The FoMoCO is a script with an oval surrounding.

So I'll rephrase my question in the linked, more general thread and be more specific about which year and which vendor I'm referring.

Don't have any good pictures of original 69 headlights but on examples from earlier cars I agree all were printed in upper case letters for both versions on the lens and on the back side of the bulb
