1966 Shelby gt 350 rear springs

Does anyone know the rate/lb of rear springs a gt350 would have used for 66'? Would they be the same as a GT car?? If so then what was the difference from a standard v8 car, rate/spring? Thanks

This is all book stuff so bear with me if you please.  MPC shows only 2 different rear spring ratings (possibly just for replacement purposes) but groups then into 4 groups and shows 17 different engineering numbers

The MPC show the rear springs used at the rear of a 66 GT350  being "rated" at 650 lb.



Would they be the same as a GT car??

Looks like body style might effect this answer but do often see the same rear spring (same engineering number) installed on GT cars


If so then what was the difference from a standard v8 car, rate/spring? Thanks

For replacement purposes there are 650 and 610 lb springs listed


If you gave us an idea of you need that answer might be an easier one :)

Found this recently while doing similar research

Note differences in deflection and spring rates. Load rate 650 or 610 will accomodate for body style/weight while car is stationary.  Combined with spring rate (85 or 110) will determine ride stiffness and performance or deflection.

My Hipo rolled off the line with code Z springs on build sheet which should transfer the Shelby

Thank you both for the answers. I am currently running 4 1/2 leaf mid eye springs that i have had for appr. 10 years. I feel that they are sagging too low now as in the last year or so I have noticed more scrapping of my exhaust/tri-y's over speed breakers. Quite honestly the cars resemables the classic Mustang sagging rear end! I am looking into getting replacements and was thinking of finding a set comparable to the GT specs. I think I have my answer. Thanks again!
