70 CA emissions at tank

I mostly work on GM musclecars and this if the first Ford I have done a ground up on, so please bare with me. I am restoring a 70 R code CA car for a customer, and have a question on the emissions hookup at the tank. I can't find any info on where the plastic line off the tank goes or where the 3/8 line off the charcoal canister hooks up. I have found the pics on this site that cover everything but this. Couple hours searching the internet have not resulted in anything else either. Car is almost ready to start and trying to tie up a few loose ends, thanks.

I was able to buy a full set of shop manuals today. it looks like I am missing a check valve that bolts to the frame rail. Any ideas on where to find one?

The specific routing of the plastic lines at the tank (to the return  line and vents) I don't think is out there anywhere I'm aware of. Believe I started a drawing/diagram of the routing but never finished it :(

Ooof... I have my car out in the parking lot today, but I don't have a camera to get pictures with :-/

Shot of the trunk but with out disassembling everything not much help with the routing - holes are all under the protective plastic coverings

You might try calling some of the CA wrecking yards.  That piece is the same between '70 mustang and '70 cougar, so that ups your odds a smidge. 
You might try checking with West Coast Classic Cougars and see if they have any from thier yard cars ~ I know they have a few '70 CA cougars. 
Or try John Benoit at Cascade Classics.  He may have something in his stash as well.

They do come up on eBay occasionally too.  I bought some emissions items from eBay user Z28Doug in April of last year.  He lives in CA and has access to a '70 cougar w/ CA emissions in a yard near him.  My car did not need this valve, so I did not have him to pull it to send to me - I'm guessing it is still on the car.  You could try contacting him to see if he'll go get it for you.

Mike has given you some good leads and choices. Every so often NOS items related to the system come up for sale - normally there is not a big demand and few people know what the part is - could get lucky there. In the short term - find a nice west coast piece(s) clean them up and use them. You can always up grade to better ones later

I was looking at the frame rail today and did not notice any evidence of a hole where it would have been mounted.  I know this is an emissions car as it had the tank in it, and I have the Marti report, but everything else was missing.

I'm sorry, what I meant was that my car still had that piece in place so I didn't need to find a replacement.  But all the items in the trunk were totally covered with overspray, so it was easier to replace them.

Also, I think the trunk items are date coded with a stamp in yellow ink / paint.  My two sets have different stamps on them, and they appear to be in the typical ford date code fashion.

Sounds like you need to find a donor car to get all of the pieces from. Doing it piece by piece will make it more difficult and leave you still searching for hardware, screws, clamps ..... If you don't have any of the lines - shipping the long steel line from front to back may be a little challenge


Have a friend doing two 70 Boss's with the system right now in Michigan so there are others out there searching for the same pieces

IMHO right now don't worry about the ink stamped date codes. They can always be reapplied later. There is a blue and white sticker on the upper vent tube in the trunk - not sure if that one is reproduced yet. But this will all come later after you find the pieces

I called Cascade and WCCC. Neither had it so I bought the one off fleebay. We will see how bad it is when it gets here. Thanks for the help.
