My Dec 65 NJ Mustang - Feedback please

Here is my Dec 65 Bucked 66. Decal was placed in the exact same place as it was originally prior to the restoration. I made a template of the original position and located it with the front suspension dust cover bolts that go down the side of the shocker tower.

I'm pretty sure your windshield washer bag should have gold lettering instead of white?

I appreciate the comment and the info on the washer bag. Don't know if you saw it but I actually started a thread on exactly that question as I was unsure so thanks for clearing that up. Was there a changeover date for these or did different plants use different ones?
I would be happy for anyone else to comment on things that they feel are incorrect as well. So don't be shy!

This might get carried away (off thread) so we can split this if needed.

Just noticed a few typical things that stand out

1- Shocks

2- unpainted master cylinder

3- looks like the bypass hose and clamps might be unpainted

4- Electrical wire clip on the drivers side radiator support ??? One on the passenger side looks out of position from what I'm use to seeing

5- lack of sealant on the firewall - most noticeable at the heater motor and mounting studs but would expect the electrical connection sealant will be minimal or missing also

6- Red wire covering or something else - mid firewall just uncer the cowl to firewall pinch weld??  In the passenger side picture

Looks like a great job and allot of attention to details :)

Thanks Jeff. This feedback is great as I really want to represent this car properly for history's sake.
Just in reply. I'm waiting to restore the original Koni shocks so I have that one covered.   ;)
Upon close inspection of the master cylinder prior to restoration I found no evidence of paint ( plenty of surface rust though!) I researched it and found that they were either raw or black. Is that incorrect? :-\

The red thing that you see mid cowl is the neutral safety switch connector  :D that is correct right?
Battery mount is incorrect. Temporary fix while I save for an Autolite Sta Ful. (Christmas can't come fast enough!!)

So I'm guessing your playing the dealer installed option thing with the shocks ;)

Must be looking at the MCA rules ;) the only IMHO reason the natural finish is still in the rules is because that was the expected finish from the 70-90's and the powers that be didn't want to upset cars that have been finished and shown for years. Its not unusual for the master cylinders to rust and out be splashed with brake fluid - both will eliminate the paint

At least one box/crate of original assembly line master cylinders was located many years ago - all painted as a unit just like the years that followed.  Also plenty of original cars and pictures have been found to support those findings

Great info! Will repaint when I tackle the front 4 pots.

Aren't some of the valve cover bolts supposed to be painted as well.  I know it was discussed in another thread...

 How about the front of the PS pump?? It looks to have been painted with the case. I know the case is painted that "specific" PS color but was the front painted with it as an assembly, left cast, or maybe painted black then assembled??? Asking because I am unsure myself. ;D

Pumps were painted either semi-gloss black or the blue teal color depending on the supplying company (tag will provide that info)

The cast pump, the reservoir/can, tag and retaining nut were all painted as a unit. 66RavenGTCoupe's looks fine unless I'm missing a detail

Take a look at the FAQ's at the top of the 65-66 section - question #7  ;)

There are there since the question gets asked ALL the time - or we knew 5 years ago that you would be asking that exact question today   ::)

Not sure how many pictures you need - let me post some of the ones that are clearer shots of the product and application. If we need more I can always post others

Working passenger to drivers side. On some took and highlighted the sealant pattern sicne it might not be all that visible in the original picture
