66 Radiator gloss level
« on: July 19, 2014, 09:58:24 PM »
Ok so I have been told that my NJ 66 (Built Dec 65) original radiator should be gloss black. Is this correct?

Yes and no, the paint is a special gloss black that transfers heat more efficiently. I think Eastwood carries some.

To elaborate on Jims post. It starts out gloss and then after a few heat cycles softens down to more of a semi gloss . So yes it starts out glossy but no it doesn't stay glossy (my take ) ;) .

Eastwood has only just become available here in Australia. I will get my hands on some from Permanent Painted Coatings based in Sydney for any other Aussies out there. Thanks once more Jeff.

So are we saying I should buy the gloss option or the Satin option as Eastwoods have both in a radiator paint?

IMHO buy the gloss and let it do what it would have originally done. That's what I've choosen

What about the factory installed fan shroud on Shelbys and HiPos?
Gloss or semi gloss?

i think semi gloss and dipped which gives a slightly glossier appearance.
