Leaf spring clamps
« on: June 09, 2014, 09:09:57 AM »
I have a set of original rear leaf springs that have C9ZA 5556 S with a 95 U date code on the bottom spring , they have the original spring clamps that are two piece (upper & lower to each clamp) question is is this a vendor variation or vehicle variation , all i have seen prior to these are the one piece clamps ,  thanks, chuck.

Do you know what car the springs came from and what plant??   And what spring plant the springs were made at? Should be the code after the date - last line

Hpw were you able to determine these are original to the springs?

Must say I've not seen an original two piece clamp used on a classic period rear spring but am interested what the conversation goes

Awaiting more information

[/quote   a freind had two 70 boss 302s one was a metuchen the other a dearborn, he removed the springs  some 30 years ago and cant remember which one they were from, yes i know that DOZA is what we have seen on 70 B2 cars ,the cars had seen a few Buffalo NY winters and the rust on the clamps & springs show it , i can send you pictires of the springs as i cant post them myself . thanks,  chuck.

Found C9ZA-3556 S  used on the 69 Boss 302's I've got pictures of  and all have the standard, normal clamps installed (all unrestored cars)

Also looked about 100 70 NJ cars and could not find a single example with anything but the one piece standard clamp as we normally see.

To support the idea that these are original you will need to find a number of other original examples before you'll get any ones attention unfortunately I didn't find anything to lend support

At this point I'm guessing that something took place sometime in the past with these springs - but just me at this point. :)

BTW if we read the last two numbers the way that is currently accepted your springs were stamped on April 5th - unfortunately we don't know what car they came from
