This is a pic of a 351C out of a 29K mile Dearborn Mach 1 automatic and A/C with (supposed to be) original paint and sticker on valve cover.

want to revisit this fellas....

see an example of sticker on snorkle and another on side of valve cover....

do you think its the same emiisions decal?

does a 2V and a 4V motor make a difference?

One is the timing settings (valve cover) the other is an emission decal.

Don't know if there is a difference in decal placement between the 4v and 2V but I would GUESS no  (changes may be due to what time of the production year  or assembly plant instead) since engines were assembled I believe at the same plant - though note that the air cleaners were added at the plant

Guess where the lines got crossed was the definition of "emissions" decal. ;)

The one showing the engine timing (EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL)  I've only seen on the drivers side valve cover as shown in the one picture. Apparently there is an early and late version (don't ask me what the specific difference is ) of the decal.

The other Emission decal shown in some of the pictures I posted is one that seems to be more inconsisent right now

Just for clarity, the sticker on the snorkle relates to the California evaporative emisions, and won't be found on a non-California car.  The "timing" sticker is on the driver's side valve cover, with the variations in sticker placement, I don't think it would be wrong on either the front or side.

I seem to be finding the engine ID decal on the front of that valve cover. ;)

As for the snorkel emissions decal - thanks, completely  overlooked the Calif connection

Jeff,

Your one pic seems to show the emissions sticker on the front, the other one looks like it was the engine type tape (i.e., K601A), not the timing sticker.  The '70 valve covers were somewhat different than the '71s, all the original '70 valve covers I've acquired had the timing sticker on the side, not the front.  The period pictures I have of the 351C's from '70 also had the timing sticker on the side.
