Topic: Tire sizes

I have a July 64 built 260 auto Hardtop and the spare tire  is an excellent Firestone 6.50/14 which I thought was the original, however I have been told its incorrect and I only have the one.
What opttions are there for me as I need 5 matching tires for the concours, I believe these are unavailable. Im in Australia but happy to hear all options.

6.50x14 was available at the time your car was built, it is probably the original spare.  Unfortunately, I am not aware of any repro, so you would have to piece together an NOS or used original set if you want all 5 to match.

What size tires are your other 4?  Are they also the 6.50/14 or radials?  I recently switched from 205 70 14 radials to 6.95/14 bias ply mounted on styled steel wheels.  I have been pleased with the look and ride.

Hi they are 195/65/14 on rally rims, I will keep for driving but want the cross plys for shows..

 I have not yet found reproduction Firestones, as originally equipped on most Mustangs at the time, so you would have to aquire NOS tires as caspian65 stated if it's a top concours car. There has been debate over what other "brand" would be close. I went with the US royals, 6.95 x 14 on my June 64' built Dearborn coupe and I love the look and ride so far. Just got the alignment complete and tagged last week!! It's the first time the car has been on the road since 1985, 29 years! It was in a barn for 22 years and the last few years, have been finishing it's restoration.   Sorry to ramble.... Here are some tire pics before the alignment, and I will post some more later with the hubcaps installed. Though not 100% concours, they work for me.

Have you tried locally?   That may sound odd but at one point allot of the old Firestone original tire molds were in NZ or Australia and being used. Though its been many years it might still be a possibility.  Remember years ago I needed some and my parents brought a set home on the airplane - they wrapped 2 together with a handle made of the packaging tape as luggage. The only change from original was some small print saying made in (one of the two countries) with easily fell off some how before they got mounted on the car

Worth a shot - but maybe a long one at this point.   Since little gets thrown away over there - the molds may be sitting in a warehouse or an out building some where now

Yes, Pagoda green although everyone thinks its blue .      I'm surprised with as many early mustangs produced and of course other cars, that no one has yet reproduced the Firestones?

Those would be worth their weight in gold today. I imagine, for instance, Mr Corky Coker would find them very useful. Wishful thinking...
