Interior Color Code Clarification
« on: May 21, 2014, 10:27:35 AM »
Hello
After many years of restoration Ive finally got around to the interior, and question that came to mind was does anyone know (or may own) a 65-66 with a Standard Interior with Appointments that carries the standard colour coded steering wheel? All my searches for images pull up the Decor/Pony option with the wood grain trim.

Thanks

I had a 65 Fastback that was white with blue appointments and the steering wheel, dash, door planels, metal around the door, fiberglass panels were white. The carpet, dash pad, and seatbelts were blue.

First, welcome to the forum. In order to properly answer your question we prefer that you include the year, model, assembly plant and scheduled build date (although your complete VIN with three xxx for the last three numbers will work), plus engine, transmission type and any options.

Thankyou jwc66k for the welcome.

Took a me a while to get my VIN details as the car is stored quite a distance away from my house. I'm in Melbourne, not Florida but Melbourne Australia so excuse any naivety in my descriptions.

Bought this coupe in 2002 and drove this car for approx 18 months before electrical problems unearthed major rust in cowls, doors and quarters (due to an accident in a previous life). Since 2002 it's been in storage, had all its panels replaced with NOS ones, when I could find/afford them. Paint finally went onto the car just over a month ago and now it's time to piece it together.
The Coupe revealed a few secrets during the restoration, for one during blasting, it was originally Spring Time yellow with a black interior. When I bought it it was white with a red interior. The drivers door was replaced at some stage ( probably after the accident) and the door tag is from another car which was also from Metuchen but was Sahara Beige. It had a single rail Borg Warner 4 speed trans, which was truly awful and locked in 2nd and an emergency brake from a 1980's falcon which came all the way across the drivers seat when engaged. A couple of unexpected additions found in the car was a rear window defogger is nice working order, but need to be cleaned up, and a 7 1/4 equal loo axle which I've rebuilt after a long find to obtain parts.  Being that is doesn't have a door tag I thought to give the coupe a fresh start to life and hit it with a new colour interior, hence the question.

Thanks all for your responses so far.

Hi there,

Given it's a Metuchen built car you _may_  be able to retrieve the build sheet.  The NJ built cars very often have the build sheet wrapped around the main under dash electrical harness secured with some electrical tape.
