1157A ?
« on: May 16, 2014, 03:13:53 PM »
Just have to ask:  The 69 bulb chart calls for a 1157 Amber bulb for the tail/brake/turn light bulb for the rear bucket.  Is that correct ?  My 65 has the 1157 for this area and that is what I have in the 69 rear bucket right now.   Thanks, Brian

Normally an 1157 A (painted amber glass) or an 1157 NA (natural amber glass) is only used where there is a clear lens requiring an amber illumination - typically on the front. Anything with a red lens requiring a dual element bulb is normally an 1157 (clear glass). An amber bulb behind a red lens gives off a strange illumination. I'm guessing that's a misprint/typo. Just my 2 cents.

Well hopeto; thanks for the reply and I agree.  Just ran across this anomaly, found it curious, and thought I would ask.  This info is taken from the original 69 Owners Manual and the Original 69 Shop Manual.  Brian
