69 Service Tag
« on: May 07, 2014, 11:46:07 AM »
Can these engine compartment service tags be dated or identified as OE or after market ?   This one is on 9T02R built 9/19/68.  Thanks,  Brian

Looking at a 69 NJ car 9T02F1442x0 the one you show is very different. Same location just the fonts, orientation,  spacing and art work differs. Not even close

Yours is likely an old repo :(

Looks like the typical product you get when someone does not pay close attention to the details

Below - yours the top one - the original on the bottom

Couple of earlier cars showing similar locations

Thanks Jeff.  Side by side the difference's are easier to see and obvious.  I am going to guess that ECS would be the best choice to supply this and the emissions decal ?  Brian

Give them a try or at least get a look at what they have to offer and compare

Regarding location of the label for a Jan Dearborn car, is there a standard for placement/orientation?

Thanks

I can't believe it, my 68 fastback has an original mint sticker!  Is it possible to repop it from a good picture?  It can't be hard for a person with digital print shop experience.  If I did it myself, and it was as good as the original, would there be a market for it?  Please advise.

To be concours you have to use  3-M  paper  so go for it & don't forget about FORD.

I got a reproduction Service decal from Tom at ECS and I think it looks pretty good.  Black and silver colors look right and the different font sizes seem to match up to the decals posted.  Has the GENUINE PARTS nice touch.  What do you think ?  Brian

I'd say it looks about as good as one can get, looks very close if not the real deal.
