Why won't new spare ignition key work?
« on: April 27, 2014, 05:11:28 PM »
I have a new ignition switch and keys. I had a spare made (actually two now) and it doesn't work. It will turn to the left OK (for accessories), but it won't turn to the right (for on / ignition). Anybody have any ideas why it doesn't work or what I can do to make it work? Key was cut by a professional locksmith. Thanks.

You can remove the ignition switch lock with a paper clip pushed in the small hole, inserting a known good key and turning the lock counterclockwise. Then take that lock, a good key and the ones that don't work back to the locksmith.
Be nice.

What type of blank was used to make the new keys?  were they cut with an automatic or manual machine?
