Topic: Bench Seat in a 68 FB

I recently came across a 68 fastback that had a white (parchment?) interior with a bench seat. Were bench seats common (or even possible) in fastbacks?

Also, are there seat kits that deal with recovering/restoring bench seats, or are they a custom job?

No bench seats ever came from the factory with fastback body styles.

Possible the bench seat option does come in 68 Fasbacks. Here (link to pictures) is another one on an original owner gold with black interior car.
Of course since this car has many mods, I cannot answer that it truely came with it or not, but it sure was on option for 68's that I personally hadn't seen in anything newer than a '67

Bench seats were available for 68 fastbacks but not convertibles. They were all done in the comfort weave material. TMI has bench seat kits but not with the correct comfort weave.

According to Kevin Marti, there were 1334, 1968 Mustang fastbacks with bench seat.

TMI products can be custom ordered in any color or material type that they use for any seat covers they reproduce. Any supplier who sells TMI products should be able to place a custom order like this.

I've used this supplier for my project. They will send you out material/color samples upon request.
It looks like they also sell whole kits for your bench seat 68 Mustang too!

As I said in my post above TMI has kits for the bench seats but the comfort weave is in correct. How ever if you can find NOS fabric they will us it at additional cost. I will post a pic of the NOS comfort weave.

RocketScientist, you never mentioned whether this 68 Fastback has the comfortweave seats or not.
Going by these stats (assuming they are correct), my guess would be the one you are looking at is a standard interior.
Has the interior already been reupholstered? What do the back seats look like?

What I am trying to say is all 68's that had bench seats had the confort weave insert whether they were standard or deluxe.

That's why I was asking about the back seat. Many of those were never  reupholstered. It might be a good indicator of what came originally up front.

The exterior looks like its been hot-rodded but the interior looks fairly stock. I haven't seen the rear seats yet but I would have suspected that they have been redone some time in the past.

I know of this car. I have spoken to the owner several times. its an ex show car, but he believes the bench was stock. I am local to him. I can check the car out if you want an inspection.
