Correct screws and hardware for 66 rear valance?
« on: March 07, 2010, 11:50:07 PM »
I also have the same question. I am restoreing a 66 fastback.  Early April 1966. Valance and screws were gone when I got the car. Don't know what type of screw to use.  Thanks, Doug

Jeff,      Sorry, I forgot to include where it was built in my question.   The car is a 1966 fasback. Built in San Jose.   Near as I can figure April 10--14  1966. It is a Shelby, so there is no door data plate. Looking at other numbers and Ford VINs , this seems to be about right.      Doug

Looking through my pictures it seems that the typical screw used for the mounting of the rear valance was a simple pan headed phillps. These would have been installed after the car was painted.  Two of the screws (normally the ones above where the bumper guards would be installed) were installed before the paint was applied so that would receive a nice coat of paint.  Some times they were same pan headed screw but very often they were the flat wide phillips headed screws

Hope this helps

Wow!  Looks like (2) well liner screws were used to hang it there for painting, huh?
