The format is typically 5EAB, which would decode to:5=year of the decade, could be 65, 75, 85, etc...E=Month, in this case, 5th letter, 5th month-MayA=Week of the month, A-firstB=ShiftSo, a date stamp like 5EAB would mean first week of May, 1965, B shift.
Thanks very much for the info. One more question... how closely would you guess the coil date should match the date the car was produced? (same month, a couple of months earlier?)
If I saw one 6 months earlier than the projected build date (all we have on the judge field at MCA) I would not find fault.
