Seat belt question
« on: April 08, 2014, 04:33:52 PM »
We recently sent 2 sets of seatbelts to SSnake Oyl for restoration.  The first set was out of our car (May 65/Fastback), standard black.  We were informed that they were missing the plastic boots and that they could provide them.  The second set were out of a (Feb. 65/Fastback) and were deluxe blue, these still had the original 7 1/2 inch boots which they replaced and added the correct tags.   When we received the sets back the black set had boots that are 11" long is this correct for the standard black?

Thanks for your input.

If I had to guess I'd think that the set with the 11in. boots would be for a convertible.

When my LATE (July 1965) Convertible was restored I was told/learned that Convertibles didn't get the boots.

Hmm, I've seen more convertibles with the long sheaths/boots than I have seen without.  Pretty comfortable in saying that the standard seat belts for '65 should have short sheaths on coupe/fastback and long on convertible, but I cannot say for sure about deluxe belts.

I have the original belts in my 65 Dearborn 2+2 delivered June of 65.

I ordered the "deluxe seat belts", front only.  I don't remember if rear belts were offered.  It was a cheap option, but not sure what I really got for my money.

If some information on what I have would help, let me know.

Here is a picture of the restored belts.  My question is should the plastic boots be so long?  The belts are STANDARD out of a '65 Fastback.
