Topic: chassis dimensions

Hi i am about to replace the complete front end on my 65/66 f/back, and trying to find the correct dimensions for the chassis alignment. I have found some on the internet, but they dont seem to be correct in dimensions when measuring from the rear, any correct links or advice thanks jon

Your best bet is the 1965 Comet, Falcon, Fairlane and Mustang Shop Manual.

hi i have now ordered a book thanks, but the info i have been able to get does not seem correct, i have a similer picture with the side elevation but dimensions do not measure up right on the rear chassis to the front rails, any suggestions does your book show a side elevation thanks jon

thanks claes, that's the drawing I have, when you  set the rear spring hanger points to those dimensions relative to the jig bed, the rocker panels point upwards at the front, but they should be parallel with the jig bed cant work out whats wrong or those dimensions on the drawing r incorrect

If those drawings are from the Ford Shop Manual, there's something dramatically wrong with the dimensions, IIRC.  I tried to use them about 10 years ago, finding that one of the front-to-rear lengths was off by several inches.  I'm going by memory, so YMMV.

Well sorry about that - didn't have a clue... could look if there are any differences in the MPC drawings, or does anyone know already?

got my manual and dimensions for the chassis/suspension points side view  are incorrect as we have now used another 65 f/b and taken measurements from its chassis and the distances from a horizontal datum line parallel to the lower rocker edges, as the drawing, do not work out  in any way similar so I really don't no how the figures in the book got there but at least I can now get on with the job in hand thanks for everybody's input

It's strange that after almost 50 years that error would be noticed. How about a more specific correction to includea change "from" xxx "to" yyy set of numbers. Ball park would fine.
