Anyone have a 65 GT with bench seat? Does anyone know how many 65 Gts had bench seats?

Seen coupes and convertible GT's with a bench seat.  Probably one of those things where rare in numbers but not as desirable as a regular bucket seat car.  There are no records known to say exactly how many of these were made.

Don't know of any 65 GT's with original bench seats    Know of some 67's GT's and GTA's that come to mind. Not at all popular with buyers especially in 65-66 when the cars were sold as small and sporty cars.

No official records showing any break downs by options, colors ,...... A book written in early 80's took a guess (don't know if the percentages were based on anything except what he saw driving around Los Angeles but Don't believe the bench seat was included in the guess since there were not that many out there.

I know of an Arcadian Blue 65 GT with Bench seat here in Stockholm.

The car was owned by a Swedish lady who brought it back with her when moving back to Sweden from the US, in the 70's. The car was then hit in the right rear fender (not that bad) and was about to be wrecked when someone at the wrecking yard called a friend of mine and they managed to save it. He restored it and painted it with Du Pont Lucite 1 stage in the 80s and the car till has that paint and looks great.
It has been bought and sold a couple of times and is now owned by another friend of mine.

I also remember a black GT K-code coupe with bench seat, on ebay, maybe 10 years ago. Seem to remember it was advertised for 18K and in rather bad shape, think it was commented on the VMF board at the time.

Ran across this car on eBay a couple of weeks ago at least. The first time they ran it (or when I first found it) the auction ended at $25,100.00, didn't meet the reserve and now, here it is again. It's a 66 though, but has the bench seat, looks to be a real GT and is a good looking car it appears (and a fastback). The standard interior with the bench stood out when I read your post and thought I'd share. Worth a look anyway...

fastback's never came from factory with a bench seat. adding it defeated the 2+2 theme.

Thanks for the replies. I got my car last May. It's met all the tests of a factory GT and I believe it is. The vin is 5F07A779369. The codes are; body 65C (2dr/ht standard), color R (Ivy Green Metallic), trim 36 ( Black crinkle vinyl, Bench seat), Date 02U (Jul 2, 1965), DSO 36 (Louisville), Axle A (3:00-1 limited slip), Trans 5 (4speed)

The good is the car is complete but the bad is the trive train was replaced. The origional engine was replaced with a 72 302 with 78 351 heads, the transmission was a 67 toploader from a 390 engine behind a lakewood bellhousing, and the rear end is a 9 inch with 3:50 gears.

I have sense replaced the 302 with a 65 A code engine that was cast in Feb 65 which is too early to count as numbers matching. I got the correct bellhousing and paired it with a T-10 that has a build date of Dec 64.

Isn't the "C" after the body code the bench seat code?  that would be the way to tell if the bench seat is original to a car.

no. that code is for a coupe. 2+2's had a code of 63.

I have long been under the impression from books that I have read that 1965-66 Mustangs (for example) that if the body code for a Convertible with STANDARD interior was 76A, Pony interior 76B, and bench seat 76C, I would think that knowing that Fastbacks never came from the factory with bench seats you'd never see a 63C body code on a fastback........I have forgotten what the body code for Coupes is right now.......

Believe it is 65A B and C.
And a C in the body code means bench seat.
