Lower dash pad hardware
« on: March 14, 2014, 07:22:26 PM »
Were 10-24 keps nuts or stamped, machine-thread nuts used to hold the lower dash pad to the dash? The assembly manual specifies this nut as 45245-S36 (5 required) but I'm not able to determine what type of nut that is. AMK supplies this nut as a stamped nut, yet I'm not sure that's correct. I'm 95% certain my original lower dash pad was held using keps nuts and I'd like some feedback as to what others have seen.

Are you talking about what some would call the "knee pad" or "knee crash pad"?

They are a stamped machine nut with a 11/32 hex drive. The only application is the 67 lower dash pad. AMK has them but with a clear zinc finish and a sealer, possible for another manufacturer (Chrysler?). I have 5 from an AMK kit leftover from a 67 project I did a while back. Ya want them?

Yes, I am talking about the "knee pad" / lower dash pad that mounts just above the glove box. :-)

Jim, yes, I'd love 'em!

I have found both nuts used but it seams like there are more with the stamped nut. I think our 11-04-66   67 GTA had the Kep nuts.
