Is it an option in this forum set up to have the member location show up below their name and avatar?

<==========  Allentown, PA

I find it very nice to know where someone is from when having a discussion.

Of course there could be a few folks in the witness protection program.   ;D

Don't believe so - but Charles is the IT guru.  Might even be a law (in some states) against it being included in the structure - sure it could be added to each persons signature if they wanted to do that individually.

I know that back when I was instructing that we could not collect or share adult students name or addresses with other in the class though they (as a group or individually) could make a lists and share it with each other.   ::)

Other forums I visit have the location shown as a default (and some sites -require- the member provide a location)   but not to say they aren't breaking the law.  ;)

One site even logs the IP address of the poster.

It's just a nice feature but I won't go away if we can't have it.  ;D

I poked around a bit and it is do-able.  When I have some spare time, I'll see if I can make the change.

Rodster,

If you think Charles will have any "spare" time in this decade, then I (and probably Charles) have some swamp land to sell you! I am currently working with him on two of the three restorations in his garage and I know there are several more waiting in the wings. This, a full time job, and his kids lead me to wonder when he ever gets time to sleep.

Regards,
Pete Morgan

Fully understand.... that's why I said low priority.  ;)

Doesn't ever have to get done for me, I was just curious about the feature.

Hehe, yeah, time is a valuable asset these days.  Hope to have the 3 cars in the garage done by mid-April.  The ozzies don't know they will be working their butts off when here, lol!

There are a few members of this forum that I have sent parts to and a few that I gotten parts from. We did exchange addresses for those transactions out of necessity. Those addresses are kept in the strictest confidence by me. Where I am located I prefer to keep private, just a bit of paranoia from a previous forum with a nosy poster.
On the other hand, it's seems to me that a first name or nickname used on post as a signature would be more appropriate for making a reply, and not quite as impersonal as something like "37packardfrompoughkeepsie" .

Jim:  The way it would work is the location would only be seen if you enter one in your profile.

I realize that the profile entry of my location will appear on each post I make, but I prefer that it does not.
