2 speed wipers wont "park"
« on: March 03, 2014, 01:28:45 AM »
Hi all,
Just finished a full engine bay restoration / rebuild on my 66 and went to check my lights, heater, radio and wipers and they all work as they should but my wipers do not go all the way down to the bottom of the wind shield like they are used to. Wiper motor is still the original. Any clues as to why?

This might be elementary but I'll throw these out anyway. First, make sure nothing is binding the arm assembly under the dash. I had  speaker wires get caught up in the arm assmebly once, wasn't pretty. Secondly, did you remove the wipers from the windshield?? Perhaps they are in the wrong placement. I set mine when the motor stops, (no wipers attached), then place the wiper in a sort of level position. I never push them on all the way in case they need to be moved/readjusted again. You also dont want them slapping your drivers side window molding! ;)

All great advice but it ended up being one of the green wires with the spade connection coming loose! All fixed now. Thanks for your input though.
