Have you guys tried Evapo-rust?  Think that a lot of those little bits and pieces could be soaked and look like new.  It's a big time-saver for me these days.  Northern Tool has it for about $80/5gal with free pickup at store.

+1 to using Evapo-Rust. I'm in the middle of restoring our original heater motor right now, the product is simply amazing. Used it for the fan cage specifically and it came out so nice and clean, I could shoot it with clear and probably call it good. Used it over the winter for those front disc brake Kelsey Hayes/FoMoCo disc retainer plates too (and the original bolts and star washers), came out clean as a whistle, after a couple-of-day soak. Safe to handle, good on the environment, reusable....sounding like a commercial now... Good stuff though. Another opportunity to thank this Forum too, because you guys are the ones that mentioned it in the first place. Very much enjoying the restoration pictures of the Shelby too!

We've used Metal Rescue on some stuff.  We find Evapo-Rust to leave a bit of a yellow film on some items.

Have seen some cad plated parts turn a yellowish color, but that's just because they were left in too long.  Most of the zinc and phosphate stuff and any bare metal parts will come out like new... assuming they are not heavily rusted/pitted.

Interesting process you choose for this one. These can be challenging, to keep from "improving" and wanting to do allot of things after so many full restorations for you and Jeremy. Might be refreshing if you can control the concours urges

You are correct.  There have been lots of "decisions" to make during this whole process.  It's really a balancing act...for example, the original paint will remain on the interior of the doors along with the firewall, under hood fender aprons, floor pans, under hood, etc.  Original carpet goes back in next week.  Original instrument bezel, door panels, arm rest pads, bases, etc. are still there.  We didn't really have a choice on the engine...it had been sprayed black by the long time previous owner.  It's been fun and should be a great car to enjoy.
