Charlotte Motor Speedway
April 16 - 20thI'm working with Ed Meyer on putting together a special display at the Mustang 50th Birthday Celebrations in Charlotte this year. The theme of the display would be "Rare Cars" and focus on the early muscle cars of Shelby, Boss, and CobraJets and be open to restored and unrestored examples. One of the issues at Charlotte is trying to coordinate a general area where we can keep a good group of cars together instead of being mixed up all over the show field. Its my understanding talking with Steve Prewitt and people at the Charlotte Speedway today that the show field is set up as a first come, first serve basis of parking with no specific parking for groups of cars because the number of cars expected. Once you are inside you can not move your car until after 5:00 each day or you can leave your car in the spot overnight.
We are looking at putting together a large tent and reserved area outside the show field next to the main entrance called the "Fan Zone". There is an area there already reserved for car clubs and organizations for this exact reason and would allow us a tent and easier access to come and go as needed each day. Should make for a much better experience overall. More details and pictures here:
http://www.mustang50thbirthdaycelebration.com/charlotte/moreprogram.htmlWe are looking for a minimum of at least 20 cars/owners that would be willing to commit by Monday Feb 10th. The only cost associated will be for the tent and/or other expenses which could be about $150 per car for the week there (actual cost still TBD). This is a paved area outside the main entrance which is unfenced but will have security each night if you want to leave your cars overnight.
