69 wire loom, engine gauge feed
« on: January 19, 2014, 04:05:19 PM »
Hi all,

a friend of mine sent me this Picture of his engine wire harness for oilpressure and watertemp to ignition coil. You see there is an additional harness connected between the plug from the Firewall an the engine gauge feed wire loom. In my car this is missing. My engine  gauge wire loom is connected directly to the plug coming out of the Firewall. Is there a reason for that. Any ideas?
My car is a July, 69 Metuchen built original 351W-2V with PS and AC. His car is an early 69 351W-4V without PS an AC

Thank you

The spacer or jumper wire loom corrected an issue Ford was having. That piece was only used during a specific period of time in 69 production. Will look and find the TSB that relates to the running change and post some info when I find it

OK checked my TSB cheat sheet and its apparently related to a change in the oil sending unit in Feb

Basically (according to my notes) the early version has a red indicator on the sending unit and needed the jumper loom. The later (after Feb 69) had a green plastic indicator ring on the sending unit and these didn't need the jumper.

This is related to only 351 production and applies to all plants

Hope this helps explain the issue
