72 351C Air Cleaner part number ID
« on: January 15, 2014, 10:15:36 AM »
I have the snorkel off of my 72 351C 2V with an engine build date of November 71.  Their is a part number stamp on the bottom of the snorkel that I am getting a rubber stamp made of.  The number is mostly there accept the last two characters.  What is legible reads D2AF-9D626-??, the first unknown character may be a C and possibly an A after that as only the bottom 1/8 of the left leg of what could be an A is legible.  Any guidance on what the last two characters would be?  In looking through some of my books for the correct part number they reference D4 numbers, which I assume are service part numbers.

Thank you,
Brian

The challenge is that your looking for an engineering number rather than a parts number :(

I've got the part numbers from the MPC but none of them will have a double letter at the end

For parts numbers the -C is listed as a 351 2V without ram air and nox application. The -A is for the 351 2V without ram air but with nox application

Don't have a picture of another one to compare - sorry

I have a 72 351C 4v CJ.
I removed the snorkel last night and the number in white is very clear.
It reads D2ZF-9C672-AA
Hope this helps.

Hmmm...My paper copy of the MPC says for 9672 to go to Section 95, page1, which covers carbs (the electronic version has blank pages for those part numbers!).  The original poster had a part of 9626, which is Duct and Valve Assembly, Air Cleaner.

Are you sure about the reading of D2ZF-9C672-AA?
