« on: January 15, 2014, 09:36:13 AM »
Just wondering what options I have for correct spark plugs for my Dec 65 Metuchen built 66 A code? Can you still get originals?

You can find BF42 Autolite spark plugs on eBay using the GetItNext eBay search engine - http://search.getitnext.com/beta/search/execute?q=nos+autolite+BF+42+spark+plugs&commit=&search=1&sort=0&p=1&u=1

There are typically a few sparkplugs with Part # B8A-12405-A sets for sale at any given time.  These seem to be the most commonly available variant of the BF42s.  If you want the spark plugs that come on the car from the factory (they are still BF-42s) they would have a different part number on the box and look a bit different (they have the Autolite "star" on the ceramic part of the plug).  They show up for sale more infrequently.  Shop around - the prices of the spark plugs tend to vary wildly.

Regards,

Ron

Believe correct '65-'66 Spark Plugs should have the Autolite star and circle on them.  The ones without them are later 60's and Early 70's

mmmm  nice examples....  getting hard to find these ones now. and if you do happen to find some dig deep into your pockets as sellers don't really want to let them go, just incase they build a throughbred restored example or for use on a unrestored example. kind of somes up why I have been collecting them for many years.

The BF 42 star was also used on some of the BB 's including 67 GT500. That adds to the demand.

Think that change was in April 67 (from 42s to 32's) then they went back again to 42's (from 32's) in April 68 due to a fouling issue

Guess they couldn't figure out which ones to use :(

Just expanding  a bit

Thanks Phill. They were a really nice set that I picked up about 8 years ago, still in the 10 pack box (though it only had eight). They are destined for my '66 fastback eventually. Believe it  or not, I paid a "whopping" $18 for them. Wish I could find more deals like that now!!  ;)

The Swedish Mustang 66 Owner's Manual oddly enough specifies BF 32 for the
4-V, 225 horse powered Mustang.

Star on the box does not count ;)   needs to be on each spark plug

Don't see that in any of the pictures

Great thing about ebay they have a message feature and you can ask for more info and pictures  ;)

Saw these and thought I would be nice and put it out for board members looking as I know they don't come up often.  If someone is interested they can inquire further with the seller.
