Deluxe Ivy Gold Interior, Correct Knee Pad?
« on: January 14, 2014, 09:53:54 PM »
Hi guys, I have what I'm fairly sure is the original knee pad on my '67 coupe.  I ordered an "Ivy Gold" reproduction knee pad from NPD, and was surprised to find that it's Dark Ivy Gold.  I know someone has repainted the dash at least once, and I thought that maybe they had painted the original knee pad Light Ivy Gold along with the dash.  Since the vinyl is separating from the metal backing, I pulled a little of the pad away so I could see the backside, and it didn't appear that the pad has ever been Dark Ivy Gold.  The car was built at Metuchen on Dec. 8th, 1966.

Please see the picture below.  The original pad is still installed, and the new pad is laying unopened in the passenger's side floor.  The camera flash makes the repro pad look brighter than it is.  It's actually dark green like the dashpad.  Which color is correct?

Knee Pad should match the painted metal color of the dash IMHO.

The vinyl is pulling away from the metal backing plate.  It looks like someone already tried to glue it back together, but it didn't work.
Too much junk, too little time.
