The "pad" is shown in 65 Mustang Electrical Assembly Manual (AM0008) pg 19 and 66 Mustang Electrical Manual (AM0013) pg25, for the RH side courtesy light only. It is supposed to be for all models of 65 and 66 Mustangs to clear the "plenum chamber door". ......................

On a car, no. I did find one in a 5 gallon bucket of hardware removed from salvaged cars, so I can't identify the plant, year or model. It went on a 66 Fastback I sold.

Attached are copies from the 1966 Electrical Assembly Manual, and individual Parts and Accessories Catalogs from 1964, 1965, 1967 (I don' have access to my 1966 at the moment), and the 1960-68, and 1965-72 MPC's.
Note that the Assembly Manual only shows this on the Passenger side, and the 1965 Parts and Accessory Catalog confirms this.

Note that this was used on many Models (not just Mustangs), and was only used on 1964-1/2 to 1966 Mustangs (and apparently, not just Convertibles) ; there is no listing for this pad in the 1967 Parts and Accessories Catalog, nor does it show up in the 1967 Electrical Assembly Manual. The other pad/ gasket listed (13A790-A) did not replace the 13A739-A pad, but was for a different location ; I believe for the door mounted courtesy lights for the Deluxe Interiors of 1967 and 1968.

Interesting find though. I would bet that not a lot of them have survived.

Given that according to the drawing that they are captured between the  dash and the light bracket they should still be there if installed on unrestored cars.

Looks like some examples are slowly showing up in the thread.  Need to go out and check the wife's car for this part

Thanks guess the posting of the interior door light gaskets confused the post for me. Not sure why they were included but see it now.  ::)

Removed my related text from the earlier post today so I don't confuse the focus even more

Thanks for all the great info on this part. My GT convertible is unrestored, thats prob why it was still there.  The lamp pad was easily lost since it doesnt attach to anything. I believe the lamp pad came on all 1965 and 1966 Mustangs. All body styles, standard and GT. Only on the RH side because of the heater box.

Thanks for remembering that thread Will merge and move it to the Interior section since the application spans multiple years

Almost ten years since that thread was posted  and no one else over that time period found or at least posted over that time period.

Can confirm that that the wife's Feb built 66 has one. Its held tightly between the dash and the light housing. Not going to fall out of there

Choose not to remove it at this time - I'll just lose is somewhere  ::)
