Having problems getting power steering hoses for a "J" code built April 03, 68 in San Jose. Purchased the Blue Dot hoses but they are the "under the motor mount type" and will not begin to work on our car. Contacted them but appears they do not make the proper hoses for the "over" the motor mount configuration. The hoses were very nice but sadly they just cannot work. Both pressure and return had the spiral wrap, which leads to the question: Does the return hose on the "over" the motor mount configuration have a spiral wrapped protector? ............................
Yes the pressure hose had the wrap it appears on the originals, don't recall ever seeing on on the return low pressure hose but we'll see what others have experienced. Can understand the other hose especially the pressure side) not fitting Ford made that one very long for the application given the large loop it made at the pump
The spiral wrap is near the rear solid end of the pressure hose - not really visible from the engine compartment with any ease.
The engine end of the pressure hose - I've seen the extra foam outer jacket many times though it didn't hold up well on the original cars of any year
Figured you didn't need a bunch of PS hose loops from the top side so here is a couple of shots from the bottom side. Easy to see that the one owner routed his incorrectly after they were removed/replaced at one point though it does show the spiral wrap detail
Also as s note - one car was built before your car the other after (between 8R01J134461 and 8R02J167) so your car was just about in the middle between both of these Hope this helps
