Topic: 1973 valve cover

Did the valve covers for the 351C have the "Power by Ford" or not?  Was it painted the dark blue or lighter blue?

Don't' know what light and dark blues are - should be Ford Corporate blue

As far as the valve cover pressings, not sure if they changed during the year - but you didn't provide when your car was built

Its a good idea to include when, where, body type, and options in your signature or include it in every request or you'll simply get asked for it over and over again

Looking through my pictures I've got an original spring and later unrestored 73 cars with the Ford oval (No power by Ford)

Here is a May 1973 untouched 183 mile convertable valve cover no stamping on the cover at all.  I am finishing the restoration on a 11/71 Cleveland that does have the Powered By Ford stamping.

Wrong first picture, but I will leave it in case you need a part number for the air cleaner.

Seems that the valve covers were stamped with the Powered by Ford in 71-72 and then they changed. Just not sure at this point if it was with the change from 72 to 73 or a running change during the production year.

Will post the clearest one I've got of the Ford oval - its stamped to the right to what you have in your second picture

So for a concours valve cover , on my car, would it be acceptable to have a Ford circled stamped on the valve cover? or was that only for certain years?

You would have to check with the organization your were going to have the car judged at the and that head judge. They should ask you for documentation (why you choose that style) and or you should offer it BEFORE any judging took place

Here we would rather focus on what (given our best efforts) on what was original rather than where each judging organization is at this moment since it can take them a while to catch up sometimes 

Here is some additional pictures that might help you in your efforts. Wish the pictures was clearer but thing this should work with some additional homework on your part. Good thing that there are a ton more unrestored 73 out there than 71 or 72's

After viewing Jeff's feedback I went back through my pictures of the convertable.  I did find one picture that showed the Ford oval stamped on the valve cover much like Jeff's example.  I have attached it below.  Given this was a May 73 production date similiar to yours I would think the Ford oval would be correct.  This car is a 351 2V with C6 as well.
