Topic: 1964.5 engine Decals

I too am in need of guidance for proper decals to install on a 1964.5 Convertible. The car was built at the San Jose plant on July 30, 1964. It is an F code with a 260 2v V8 with C4 automatic with AC, but no power steering.  Specifically, I would like to know which are the proper engine bay decals to install and the proper location for the decals. If anyone has any images that would be greatly appreciated. Here's an engine compartment picture:

You'll have to repaint the valve covers and air cleaner first since they need to be a Robin's egg blue.  Gold was for the 289 engine...

I would not even bother painting the valve covers the proper Early Ford Blue color seeing as how they are the wrong year valve covers.  Those are late '67 and after valve covers.  The air cleaner is correct though, He'll have to remove the black snorkel, then paint it the correct blue, then re-attach the snorkel and get the right year '65-'66 valve covers and paint them as well.

  This is what I have on my car. (Dearborn, June 64' build) Besides the shock tower decal they are mostly decals on the air cleaner.. I also have one on the passenger side of the air cleaner that describes maintenance of the road draft tube but that doesn't apply to your engine. This is the early Ford blue color described previously. Also note the generator cover in place, correct style radiator cap, plug wires,etc. details, details. That is, if your going more towards the "show" approach.

Haas anyone ever seen an original San Jose car with the FRONT on the air cleaner?

I am looking through my pictures to see if I've got something to post - First month cars (nice originals) aren't really easy to find

Unfortunately my Mustang research files are not accessible at this time.  My memory is than we researched the issue of the correct color of valve covers and air cleaner and concluded that gold was appropriate.  Nevertheless, I appreciate your comments and it can and will be corrected.  I'm aware of other items that need attention.  So the first thing I did after reading your comments was to look for correct valve covers.  How can I be assured that what I buy is correct?

I think he means 'it' being the air cleaner body, not the snorkel. As far as I know the snorkel should be black.

Not that many 64.5 produced in San Jose, you got yourself a keeper there!

what did you 'use' for research? the 289 D code used the gold covers. 260 was the only one to use blue.
