Topic: Which fan is correct for 1965 289

Need help identifying which fan is correct for a 1965 289 2V car, no AC.  Also, is the part number on the earlier fans?  I see part numbers on late 67/8 fans but nothing stamped on some of my other ones that I believe to be earlier.  Thanks!

The correct fan for your car is a C2OA-8600-B. The part number is not marked on the fan, the only marking is "FOMOCO' in script on both blades at one end. On my sample, there is a faint date code, E 3, stamped upside down to the FOMOCO. The blades are 17 inch long and attached at about a 75 degree angle with four rivets from the rear. Both blade have a predominant stamping about 11 inches long and about 1 inch wide that follow the angle when assembled for stiffness.

     Just to follow through on this fan;  This is the fan on my 65, A code, plain Jane San Jose car.  That doesn't mean it came with or is original to the car.  This fan is 16 & 7/8" wide, two blades have the FORD logo and two are stamped 911031C73  S C2OA-B.  The extension is 2 & 7/8" long without the nipple and has the FoMoCo logo.  The letter B on the base is the only other marking.  So what do you think ?  Brian

Use the fan. I replaced the one on my 65 GT Fastback with a five blade type and put the four blade on the shelf.

Correct.  C code Mustangs without A/C did not have the fan shroud.

Regarding the fan spacer, my current spacer measures 2.25", would this be correct for both A and C code '65 Mustangs with the 4 blade C2OA B fan and without a/c?

The spacer is measured from the top of the fan centering post, the hump, to the mounting surface where it attaches to the pulley. It is not measured from mounting surface to mounting surface. It's a Ford thing. Except for HP engines, the spacer is the same for 64 thru 66 Mustang V8 engines. There is no part number on it either.
