69 mustang high beam headlight aim kit
« on: November 22, 2013, 12:11:14 PM »
I have a couple sets of the headlight aiming kits that were placed in the trunk of all 69 mustangs to properly aim the high beam headlights. The problem is the plastic bag the kit came in is open and in very poor condition. Anyone reproducing the bags with the instructions printed on them?

Ed Meyer has the bag.  Not sure if heat seals it when you send him your aimers or if you have to find someone to do that for you locally.

I got a bag on eBay a few years ago, but it's letters are silkscreened on and have a raised texture instead of being permanently inked on smoothly
There are also blank bags with an instruction card inside
I've asked why there are two varieties before to no avail

Think the question is - Did they originally make any bags that were not printed on and instead used a piece of paper?

Wonder this for years - but believe that the paper slip was an early poor repo since I've never seen anyone with an original fashioned that way

Just my experiences

I was just wondering if it was a question of more than one supplier so things were done differently.
Odd that the paper card has a Ford part number on it if the aimers were never packaged that way.
Mind you, it may just be a copy of the entire text including the part number on the plastic bag.
If only I could find my repro bag, I could check.

I think if one was making a effort at making the reproduction (if it is one) a person would want to include a part number to suggest that it were "real"

In other cases/examples on early reproduction some companies left off the part number so (their figuring) Ford would not come after them

Just a thought

The card came in the owners manual packet. The headlight aimers came in the trunk of car. The card explained the need for the headlight aimers to align headlights.

Does anyone (any longer) reproduce the bags with the printing on the bag??

Had some done many years ago but can't remember who it was - though they likely aren't doing them any longer.

Don't currently have a need just asking for the group

Hi Ed, I'd be interested in the card and an open bag with more authentic printing than what I currently have.
I have the aimers already.

They have been available from time to time over the years. Would guess many of these were short runs and often not widely advertised. They have been done with the printing on the bag and also a clear bag with a paper insert. Not the same as the card that was in the glove box. Have never seen an original without the printing on the bag.

Can't offer a current source but surely someone out there will report where they last got them from

Going to merge this thread with an earlier one to keep things together

Credit to Marcus for his article on the two versions of headlight aimer rings:
