Saw this 1964 1/2 on an auction site...
« on: November 08, 2013, 05:23:39 PM »
Thought I would pass this one along. Although it is not a HIPO as listed, it is still a great candidate for a resto being a D code and nice options. It's a coincidence that I ran across this as I am trying to find out more about the fog light set-up on a 64 1/2. There are a couple of good pics of what appears to be a factory order fog light option on this car.  Looks to be mostly original with at least one repaint. I dig the trailer hitch!

Boy - another example of an owner with wither bad info or making stuff up

Ralley Package Front = a factory option ????

As DSO of 45 is a Special Order ???  Ya sure ;)

C40E-6015F = K code LOL

Hope someone does not buy this car believing the ad. Would hate to see a new owner post in a week or two bragging here about his rare car purchase

We see this all the time with sites, and auctions - EBay is the best since they put up what ever story the seller will write.

Want to guess what the seller is hoping for given the car's "rarity"  :)   I'm guessing over $10K

I spoke with the gentleman selling the car and he is a really nice guy. Not a Mustang guy and just getting misleading information from various Mustang websites that are out there. He does have the correct information and great photos listed for the ad for those of us in the know to decipher what this car actually decodes out to be. Despite the car not being a true 271HP car, it would make for a nice restoration to the right person. I wish him luck with his auction. He was truly a pleasure to speak with.

I agree with the bad info. Still it's not a bad car to redo. I thought it was nice to see some things original and untouched such as the trunk pics where you can see where the body was bucked by the surface rust around the topside trunk/frame plug. And most of the engine bay hasn't been hacked, minus half the generator cover missing, etc.

I was mostly impressed that the car still had the original gas tank in it, lol!

Does anyone know anything about the headrests? Were they the dealer installed?

Some like that were offered during the time as a dealer accessory.  Someone might have taken them off another car and installed.

I don't think that dealers offered head rests for 64 thru 66 (67 and 68 as well ) model years at that time until the government mandated headrests.

Looks like somebody had fun with the seam sealer in the trunk!  I've never seen so much seam sealer slopped around on one car!  Looks like someone did everything but write their name!
Too much junk, too little time.

I believe the headrests became available as  Rotunda accessories in late 65.

"I believe the headrests became available as  Rotunda accessories in late 65."

They were a Dealer installed "Rotunda" option.  The part number carries a C6xxx Part number, so Late '65-'66 May have been when it was brought out...but would have to check.
