New Pony for the Stable
« on: November 07, 2013, 09:16:40 AM »
It's been awhile since I was last here and in that time, last weekend actually I brought home a 1965 Mustang coupe.
200 with a 3 spd trans. Twilight Turquoise with stand black interior. It's all there and from what I gather has never been restored
over the years. It has been painted twice once red and then back to blue. It is a San Jose car and spent it's years in the San Francisco
bay area. There are two challenges with rust, one being the roof and the other is the passenger side door. The driverside has body filler
on the quarter panel. The floor pans aren't rusted out but there is rust. Radio is missing.  Here are a couple of photos. I'll post more later today.

Looks fairly straight, what are your plans for it?

Interesting that the floor has some rust and the door also. Must have been how or where they stored it.   Check the top of the hood and trunk - if it was close to the coast and outside allot there is where I would expect to see it - nasty sound as you open either. Chips and chunks of rust rolling around up there :(

Cool color combination you rarely see today

The Mustang was purchased a doner parts car. There are parts my 66 needs.
The roof is rusted in several locations, the passenger side door front bottom is bubbled with rust.
Some filler has chipped off the driver's side quarter panel.
Of the 559,000 cars made in 65 only 3.6% had the Twilight Turquoise paint. This car has the standard
black interior. It's a base model, no options where installed. The car has been re-painted twice over the years,
Original Twilight Turquoise, then Red, then Powder Blue as you now see it.
After, I remove the parts I need, I'll probably sell the parts left over or resell the entire car.
It will be a complete car, meaning if I remove the OEM fender, the aftermarket fender off the 66 will replace it.
There's alot of good glass, chrome, trim, seats, wiring, miscl parts etc.
