Front seat belt mounting
« on: November 05, 2013, 12:25:03 PM »
I know this has been asked before, but does anyone have a picture to show the correct way to mount the two-belt front belts. If I turn the bend in the bracket up away from the carpet the belts seem to need a twist in them for the buckles to face out. Is there a spacer or other parts needed other than the big washer and the torx head bolt? Mine were set up the belt bracket, the washer on the carpet, and the bolt runs through them.
I was asked once before: New jersey, December 7, 1968 build date car.

When I replaced the carpet in my car I paid particular attention to this detail.  The sequence for my car was bolt through the bracket and the washer under the carpet.  What I did find interesting was that the original carpet was slit horizontally just enough to allow the washer to fit through.  I replaced this bracket using the same method.  Brian

No, not missing, they live under the seat.  Got a trivia question; the seat belt tags carry, I think, a date/code 25-68.  25th week of 1968 ?  Brian

Isn't the Julian dating system based upon the number of days and goes up to 365/366 (leap year)?

From what I have seen there was two vendors Ford used for seat belts in 69 and 70....cant speak for the other years.
Hamill and Robbins.  And not uncommon to see both vendors mixed and matched on the same car.  The date coding seems to be a week/year format and is stamped in some of the hardware and included in the tags sewn in the belts themselves.
