Topic: Bench seat and console in a 68

Apparently the car has been sitting in a barn.... Yes a barn on a farm in Indiana since 79
So 3 paint jobs in 11 years seems extreme
The dark blue paint job on the exterior is pretty bad, flaking off the car revealing the light blue in many places
Inside the trunk lid appears to have the original sticker on the light blue paint, so I think that's the color, guess when I pull the interior it will reveal the color.

So I purchased a full console last week
But it doesn't look quiet right to me.
It has the padded top, but spears to be on a 67 frame.
Thoughts?

Your rocker moldings are on upside down. The 67 and 68 console bases are the same, looks like the back of the pad is not tight or pad has damage. I can not tell what is wrong by the pictures.

Pulled the console apart just now
Their is this metal plate securing the back seat end of the pad

Keep in mind that the console bases for convertibles were different than the ones used on coupes and fastbacks. Due to the extra bracing used on the convertible floor/transmission tunnel, you'll have to cut away some of the base to make it fit correctly...

I think you have the right plate but it may be turned up side down. Paperback Writer is right you will need to cut the sides of the console down to fit a convertible.

My car was built 12/26/67

It reads(I think)

0020-6523-100-1
18Z  D 12 26 67

Or
C8Z0-0503-100-1
1SI D 12 26 67

Tag hard to read

67 and 68 Console Bases ARE different and even have different physical C7ZB- or C8ZB- engineering numbers molded on the insides.. That is definitely a 68 pad on a 67 base. The metal bracket on rear is the factory rear bracket for the 68 pad and was obviously used to secure the rear of the pad to a 67 base which was not provisioned for an upper trim pad, hence the odd fitment of the rear of the pad..
