should rear deluxe seats have the buttons on them? I haven't sen pics of the front of the front seats for the buttons on those...

if you do choose original, may I please be first in line for your bench with the parchment comfortweave still attached. cheers.

Yes, the narrow trim moldings should be on the rear seats.

I retract what I said, at least for this car. looking through the report looks as though its a FoMoCo car. they could have easily modded the car to suit...

I would get a elite report from tgis car, or atleast ask marti if he has any further info. ordered and built in 15days, delivered to Ford Eng & foundry... sounds like an exec car maybe? would a car like this have the brass tag associated with the execs cars? its usually on the radiator support.

does the car have a buck tag or build sheet that may lead to clues?

Would bet that the info in the Marti report would match any buck tag or buildsheet found in the car since all were pulled from the same data source as I understand it. Since its another lease car there would be no dealership involved between the build and the delivery. Guess Ford did the registration paperwork for the state in house.

Think we might be grasping here ;)

Not sure where the brass tags were found/located on 68 Dearborn cars - have seen them in other locations on other years. If it was even assigned one

Haven't come across a build sheet, but do plan on pulling the interior at the end of the month.
This is the tag next to the radiator.
The back seat trim moulding could have been picked off by kids, or who knows over the years.
But what I don't understand is, that if they never made the vert in this trim, how can it be???
The back seat fits right, it's a vert seat in a trim that it wasn't suppose to be.

You find another car with parchment interior it has nicer seats than your car or you just want/like the idea of a bench seat, so you remoe your seats and put in the "new"/different seats and go on your way. Other than the time it takes to remove and cut the console the seat swap could/should take less than twenty minutes to do.

This sort of thing was done all the time. Seen a bunch of bench seat 65-66 fastbacks and a fair share of pony/deluxe interior bench seats over the year. Bet at least 20 of the pony bench seats - something never offered by Ford. Just an example.

These cars were not always (some still aren't) something special. Swapping parts, making the car your own  or just driving them into the ground was the normal thing to do. Keeping them stock - normally, was the non-normal thig to see

if its not on the marti, it is not originally a bench. I would have thought being a special order for an employee they could have ordered a bench if they wanted even without the option being there officially. however that would be in the marti for sure, and the stats books he sells. there is nothing in there...

I would leave it and make everything else original. youll have a nice unique car. with an interesting history. I probably wouldnt keep the console in the car (50/50) but I would hang onto it.

Gday Guys, to be clear, this is my first mustang, first classic car, and appreciate all the feedback.

Fully understand what your saying Jeff
Easy to swap seats from a car that has a better interior, but you can't swap the back seat...... Unless its from another vert right?

But Tim states that here were If no verts were built with comfort weave???

I'm under no illusions that my car is special, just trying to understand it.

More importantly, from the pics I have posted do we agree it is in fact comfort weave?

As I am a newbie and could be barking up the wrong tree.

The car is in Kentucky getting a full restoration and I am in Florida, which sux as all I have is photos, untill I pop
up later in the month.

I attached a photo of he car, and the door jam showing the original color

Yes that is comfortweave. It is not hard to have remove it from a coupe and resewn  it to fit a convertible. The exterior color looks like Q code Brittney Blue, also the top look to be a replacement that is blue. Marti said Parchment. Lots of thing were done to these cars over the last 40+ years. As a judge I can except all kinds of weird things but they must have documentation.  Best of luck on your project.

Maybe it's just my eyes, but is the rocker molding installed upside down in that exterior picture?
Too much junk, too little time.

The Marti lists a special order paint code, so I suspect the current color is not original.  It would be interesting to see if any of the original color remains.

The exterior color looks like D code Acapulco Blue. He said the original color was on the jams.

The door jams and trunk really do look like Brittany Blue, but Brittany Blue was a factory color on 67-68 Mustangs and wouldn't account for the special paint code on the Marti.  Is there a possibility the jams were repainted at an earlier time?  We know some owners of special paint cars became disenchanted with their choice of colors and had their cars repainted in factory colors shortly after purchase.
