Looking For Original Bumper Cover Rivets
« on: October 07, 2013, 07:45:55 AM »
Does anyone have a source for original bumper cover rivets as originals had raised rings on them and the junk you buy now are smooth and am looking to put it back like factory original?

I believe one of the guys on FEP site or the SVOCOP site has sourced these rivets.  I will see what I can find over there.

Here is the info I collected from the other site, mostly based on 84-86 Mustangs.

-Ford Number 388664-S100
-Auveco number is 14127
-http://www.clipsandfasteners.com/Fascia_Bumper_Rivet_3_16_Dia_3_8_1_2_Grip_Ford_p/a14127.htm
-9/16 flange, likely can get these at a local auto body supply

I was lead to believe the Auveco replacements had the raised ring. Have you verified they do not?

The "replacement" style rivets are readily available. What the original poster (and myself) would like to find is the original style rivets with the "raised rings" on them.

Hi I have been looking for you.

The part # I found was 388664-s100

I called Green sales and they only have this type.  It does not have the spiral you are looking for on top.  Sorry.  Maybe they are out there somewhere

About 15 years ago I ordered some rivets and got the ones with the spiral. When I noticed a lot of people didn't use  them when replacing bumper covers I decided to keep them for a future restoration. I am glad I did because they are a nice touch to a restoration detail.

For reference, could you post a picture of them?

Thanks.
