Water pump before and after
« on: September 07, 2013, 01:35:49 AM »
Way back in 1979, when I first bought my 65 Mustang, one of the first things I did was pull off the old rusty water pump and toss it into the parts pile, where it sat for the next 30 years. When  I finally came to appreciate the value of having original parts, I pulled it out of the pile and sent it off to Automotive Friction for a rebuild.  I got the finished product back today, and I'm very pleased. Sure am glad I saved all those old parts!

I bet you're especially glad you saved that pump. Unless I'm mistaken that looks like a C5OE cast iron pump and since they were only used for about 3 months they are extremely rare, and expensive!

+1 for Automotive Friction. I've used then several times and always had excellent service.

Good eyes, Dave!  Yes, it is a C50E-8505 B cast iron pump.  It almost made it into the trash several times over the years, but fortunately, it managed to survive!
