Original Bumper
« on: August 18, 2013, 04:34:32 PM »
I believe I have two original bumpers but am not completely sure.  Here are the numbers I found on each of them.

Rear-M9 69, 65 1 from an earlier post I believe it translates to Monroe Sept 1969, June 5 first shift.

Front-69 M9, 11 11 3  Monroe September 1969, November 11 third shift.

The bumpers show no pitting but do need some minor straightening in a few places.   I'm wondering if it is feasible to have these replated.  Should I attempt to straighten the imperfections my self or leave that to the plater.  I live in North Dakota so I will need to ship them out for plating.

I have good luck with Sioux Plating in Sioux City South Dakota. I would let them do the striating. I think the last I had done it was $240-$250 each.

Good luck Marty

Would reproductions have these part numbers and dates.  That price sounds pretty good if they're originals.

The reproductions do not have the part number on them. That price was based on a useable core. I all ways ask for the to do mine so I retain the correct date codes. They have a outlet in Lincoln NE. so I drop them off there. It is very covenant. I used them for our 68 HCS. Marty

I had really good luck with a place called North Star plating in MN.  They redid my original front bumper that a few minor dings--looks perfect and the date codes are still intact.

Thank you this is even closer to home, I could drop these off depending on what part of the state they are located.  Thanks guys for the leads.

IMHO the "best" is not good enough for a concours car. Suggest that you try and get a couple of originals and have them replated.
