carburetor dashpot
« on: August 16, 2013, 08:50:45 AM »
Hi All

I am seeking some clarification on whether 66 GT 4 speed transmission has a carburettor dashpot, as I have seen conflicting information out.

I thought that dashpots may have only been used on automatic cars. they thought the engine may stall without it.

Page 10-13 of the shop manual for 1966 mustangs has a section for adjusting the dashpot entitled " Anti-stall, dashpot (automatic transmissions) adjustment"  I could be wrong but I take this to mean for automatic transmissions only.  There is no reference to adjusting the
dashpot for a manual transmission.

Can you make out the numbers on the base of the carb just below the dashpot? I was thinking that the carb could have been changed sometime during the cars past.

You also the Carb id tag isn't attached to the front either.

BRASS TAG.
C6ZF-D
B 5KC

tag was actually attached on the back left side bent over behind the carby.

also had the original rotunda fuel filter on the front of the carb, not a autolite service one that you see on many original cars. seriously doubt the carby had been off let alone restored.  and yes it is a factory air con car.....
